Unless stated otherwise, the file listed below must be installed BEFORE the Sony® Notebook Utilities (Windows 7 64bit) in order for it to work properly. If more than one Required file is listed, install them in the order presented on this page.

This update is required if you have performed a clean install of the Windows 7 operating system (i.e., installed from a commercial, off-the-shelf, version rather than using the Recovery Wizard or Recovery Media).

Before You Start


Important Notes

  • IMPORTANT: Before installing the Sony Notebook Utilities, please note the following:
    1. If you have performed a clean install of the Microsoft® Windows® 7 operating system (i.e., installed from a commercial, off-the-shelf, version rather than using the Recovery Wizard or Recovery Media Kit), please ensure that all original device drivers from the Sony support site have been installed on the computer before installing the Sony Notebook Utilities.
    2. It is not necessary to revert to the original drivers if you have properly installed updates from the Sony support site.
    3. If you have performed a clean install of the Windows 7 operating system, install the Sony Shared Library. A link to the Sony Shared Library is available in the You May Need This section above.
  • During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions

  1. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  2. Download the EP0000550575.exe file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the EP0000550575.exe file to begin the installation.
  4. At the "User Account Control" screen, click "Yes".
  5. At the "Sony Notebook Utilities" screen, click "Next".
  6. At the "License Agreement" dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree" to continue with the installation.
  7. At the pop-up screen, click "OK" to restart the computer.
    Note: The installation automatically continues after the computer restarts, please follow the on-screen instructions.
  8. At the "Sony Notebook Utilities" screen, click "Next".
  9. At the "License Agreement" dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree" to continue with the installation.
  10. If the "Program Compatibility Assistant" screen appears, click "This program installed correctly".
  11. At the "Finish" screen, click "Finish".
  12. At the pop-up screen, click "OK" to restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Sony Notebook Utilities is complete.
