    IMPORTANT!! This update is available only by performing a Network Upgrade.

    This firmware upgrade provides the following benefits:

    Improvements over version s9327.1090.0:

    • Corrects a sound distortion issue when using the Netflix® streaming service and Dolby® Digital Plus (DD+)

    Benefits provided by previous updates and included in version s9327.1092.0

    • Improved image quality to the TV connected via HDMI.
    • Improved quality of GUI for the Front High left "Level" indication
    • Improved quality of the Center Lift Up (speaker setting) parameter backup
    • Improved connectivity quality via DLNA® devices
    • Improved quality for playing non-compressing FLAC content in USB devices
    • Provides HDMI® 2.0 compatibility for the following 4K/60p signals:
      • 3840x2160p @ 59.94/60Hz (YCbCr 4:2:0 / 8bit only)
      • 3840x2160p @ 50Hz (YCbCr 4:2:0 / 8bit only)
      • 4096x2160p @ 59.94/60Hz (YCbCr 4:2:0 / 8bit only)
      • 4096x2160p @ 50Hz (YCbCr 4:2:0 / 8bit only)
    • Improved seek feature via DLNA devices

    Before You Start

    Check the Current Firmware Version

    1. Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the AV receiver is connected.
    2. Power on the AV receiver.
    3. On the AV receiver remote control, press the HOME button, the home menu is displayed on the television screen.
    4. Use the arrow keys on the remote control to select "Settings", and then press the ENTER EXECUTE Button button.
    5. At the Settings menu list, select "System", and then press the ENTER EXECUTE Button button.
    6. The firmware version currently installed on the AV receiver will be listed on the television screen.
      Firmware Version
      If the version number is s9327.1092.0 or higher, it is not necessary to install this firmware upgrade.

    Network Update Instructions

    The STR-DN1040 AV receiver firmware can only be upgraded by performing a Network Update.


    • Important Notes
      • If you have not done so already, please check the current firmware version to determine if this firmware upgrade is needed for your AV receiver.
      • WARNING!! Please follow the upgrade instructions carefully. Failure to follow the instructions may interrupt the upgrade process and may cause the AV receiver to be unresponsive or to require repair.
      • WARNING!! Do not power off the AV receiver or disconnect it from the AC power outlet. Loss of power during the installation of the firmware upgrade may cause the AV receiver to be unresponsive or to require repair.
      • In order to perform the Network Update it is necessary to have the receiver correctly connected to an active Internet connection.
      • In order to perform the firmware upgrade, it is necessary to have the receiver correctly connected to a compatible television.
      • It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.
    • Firmware Upgrade Instructions

      WARNING!! Please follow the upgrade instructions carefully. Failure to follow the instructions may interrupt the upgrade process and may cause the AV receiver to be unresponsive or to require repair.

      Note: The firmware upgrade process usually takes about 40 minutes, depending on system configuration and network connection.

      1. Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the AV receiver is connected.
      2. If you have not done so already, connect the LAN port on the receiver to your Internet source using an Ethernet cable.
      3. Power on the AV receiver.
      4. On the AV receiver remote control, press the HOME button, and then wait until the home menu is displayed on the television before proceeding.
      5. At the home menu, use the arrow keys on the remote control to select "Settings", and then press the ENTER EXECUTE Button button.
      6. At the Settings menu list, select "System" and then press the ENTER EXECUTE Button button.
      7. Select "Network Update" and then press the ENTER EXECUTE Button button.
      8. Select "Start", and then press the ENTER EXECUTE Button button.
      9. The message "COMPLETE" is displayed when the upgrade is finished and the AV receiver will automatically restart.
      10. Check the current firmware version to confirm that the upgrade has successfully installed.
        Note: If the version number is s9327.1092.0 , the firmware upgrade was successful.
