    Important Notes

    • WARNING: Before installing this update, be sure the computer is running from AC power. If the installation of the BIOS is interrupted by power loss, the computer may not operate correctly or at all!
    • During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
    • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
    • It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.

    Download and Installation Instructions

    1. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
    2. Download the EP0000601222.exe file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
    3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the EP0000601222.exe file to begin the installation.
    4. At the User Account Control screen, click Yes.
    5. At the Microsoft® BitLocker™ security message screen, read and follow the on-screen instructions, and then click OK.
    6. At the User Account Control screen, click Yes.
    7. At the VAIO® Firmware Update Tool screen, confirm that the version to be installed is R1100DB, then click Update.
    8. At the The system will restart. Are you sure you want to update the VAIO firmware? dialog, click OK.
      Note: The computer will automatically shutdown when the BIOS update is complete.
    9. After the computer shuts down, wait for 60 seconds, then power on the computer.

    Once the computer has restarted, the installation of the BIOS Update is complete.

    Installation Verification

    Please follow the steps below to verify that the installation was successful

    1. Search VAIO Care (Desktop) and open the Sony Apps.
    2. Click About Your VAIO.
    3. Click System Information.
    4. Verify that the file version is R1100DB.
