    This firmware upgrade (version s9602.1328.0) provides the following benefits:

    Improvements over version s9602.1322.0:

    • Improves network connectivity for the Spotify® application.

    Before You Start

    Determine if you need this update

    1. Turn on the TV and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the AV receiver is connected.
    2. Turn on the AV receiver.
    3. On the AV receiver remote control, press the HOME button to display the the HOME menu on the TV screen.
    4. Use the arrow buttons on the remote control to select Settings, and then press the ENTER EXECUTE Button button.
    5. At the Settings menu list, select System Settings, and then press the ENTER button.
    6. The software version currently installed on the AV receiver will be listed on the TV screen.
      Software Version
      • If the version number is s9602.1328.0 or higher, you don't need this update.
      • If the version number is lower than s9602.1328.0, you should install this update.

    Before You Start

    • Follow the update instructions carefully.
    • The STR-DN850 AV receiver firmware can only be upgraded by performing a Network Update.
    • The software update process takes about 40 minutes, depending on system configuration and network connection.
    • In order to perform the Network Update the receiver needs to be correctly connected to a compatible television and to an active Internet connection.
    • It is not possible to return to the previous software version after performing this update.
    • WARNING!
      • Do not operate, power off, or disconnect the receiver from the AC power outlet until after the update is complete.
      • Failure to follow the instructions, or an interruption in the update process, can cause the receiver to become unresponsive or to require repair.

    Download & Install

    Network Update Instructions

    1. Turn on the TV and make sure it is tuned to the same input that the AV receiver is connected.
    2. If you have not done so already, connect the LAN port on the receiver to your Internet source using an Ethernet cable.
    3. Turn on the AV receiver.
    4. On the AV receiver remote control, press the HOME button, and then wait until the HOME menu is displayed on the TV before proceeding.
    5. At the HOME menu, use the arrow buttons on the remote control to select Settings, and then press the ENTER button.
    6. At the Settings menu list, select System Settings and then press the ENTER button.
    7. Select Network Update and then press the ENTER button.
    8. Select Start and then press the ENTER button.
    9. The download process starts and the download screen is displayed on the TV.
    10. After the download is complete, the upgrade starts and the ON/STANDBY light on the front panel starts blinking (the display on the TV screen and on the display window of the receiver disappears).
    11. The message COMPLETE is displayed when the upgrade is finished and the AV receiver will automatically restart.
    12. Check the current Software Version to confirm that the upgrade has successfully installed.
      • If the current version number is s9602.1328.0, the firmware update was successful.
      • If the current version number isn't s9602.1328.0, attempt the Network Upgrade again.

    Network Firmware Upgrade FAQ

    Q: The message The receiver failed to download the update data while performing the software update. Enter the settings menu and update the software again is displayed and you cannot perform the firmware upgrade.

    There may be a problem with the network connection. Verify that the network connection and settings are correct.
    1. Check the Ethernet cable to make sure it is securely connected to the LAN port on the receiver and to the Internet source.
    2. Check the AV receiver network settings and confirm that the receiver has its own IP address.
    3. Follow the Network Upgrade Instructions again.
