Follow this procedure to ensure the Windows Audio Service is set to run automatically and the service status is started.
- Click the Start button, and then click Run.
- In the Run window, type MSCONFIG.
- In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Services tab.
- On the Services tab, click to clear the check in the box next to Windows Audio.
- Restart the Computer.
- Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel window, under Pick a category, double-click the Performance and Maintenance icon.
- In the Performance and Maintenance window, under or pick a Control Panel icon, double-click the Administrative Tools icon.
- In the Administrative Tools window, double-click the Services icon.
- In the Services window, double-click Windows Audio.
- In the Windows Audio Properties window, next to Startup type click the down arrow and then click to select Automatic.
- Click the Apply button.
- Under Service Status, click the Start button.
- Click the OK button.
- In the Administrative Tools window, click the X in the upper right corner to close the window.
- In the Services window, click the X in the upper right corner to close the window.
- Click the Start button, and then click Run.
- In the Run window, type MSCONFIG.
- In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Services tab.
- On the Services tab, click to place a check in the box next to Windows Audio.
- Restart the Computer.
NOTE: The Windows Audio Service should not stop unless a user manually stops the service.
