There are various factors like connection and server errors that may prevent the television to complete the software update from being downloaded properly from the website. In addition, downloading a software update requires a stable high-speed internet connection. A slow internet connection can cause the update to take a long time to complete or to fail completely.
To help avoid this issue, try one of the following options:
Option 1: Use a USB flash drive
Download the software update from the Sony support website and save it to a USB flash drive, then install it on your TV.
Option 2: Troubleshoot the issue and update via the internet again
Try the following steps:
Note: To determine your TV model type, refer to the article How to check if your BRAVIA TV is a Google TV™, Android TV™, or other TV.
- Restart the TV
- Confirm the network status of the television. For details, refer to the Performing a Network Diagnosis section in either of the following articles: After performing a Network Diagnosis, make sure that all items of the Connection results display as OK or Found.
- Perform the software update again.
Note for TVs released in 2019 or before:
If your TV has the Automatic software download setting, try turning the setting to On. For details on how to turn on the Automatic software download setting, refer to the following:
The Automatic software download setting will allow the TV to automatically download new updates while in standby mode. Google TV does not have this setting.
