My TV turns on or off automatically

    This article provides information for disabling different features that may cause your Android TV™ to turn on or off automatically. Follow the instructions according to the symptom of your TV to resolve the issue.

    Note: Not all TVs have the settings listed below. Check your TV manuals for model-specific information.

    TV turns on automatically

    • Disable On timer
      1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
      2. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select TimersOn timerOn timer.
        • Select AppsTimersOn timerOn timer.
        • Select TimersOn timer or TimerOn timer.
      3. Uncheck On timer.
    • Under BRAVIA Sync Settings or HDMI CEC Settings, set Auto TV on or TV auto power on to Off.
      1. Press the HOME button.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select Watching TVExternal InputsBRAVIA Sync settings.
        • Select BRAVIA SettingsExternal InputsHDMI CEC SettingsCEC.
        • Select External InputsBRAVIA Sync settings.
      4. Select Auto TV on or TV auto power on.
      5. Set to Off.
    • Under Network Settings or BRAVIA settings, set the Remote Start setting to Off.
      1. Press the HOME button.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select Network & InternetRemote Start.
        • Select NetworkRemote Start.
        • Select BRAVIA SettingsRemote Start.
      4. Set to Off.

    TV turns off automatically

    Check the Daydream or Screen saver settings.

    • Set When to Sleep or Put device to sleep to Never.
      1. Press the HOME button.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select Device PreferencesScreen saverPut device to sleepNever.
        • Select Screen saverPut device to sleepNever.
        • Select DaydreamWhen to sleepNever.
    • Set Daydream or Screen saver to Backdrop or Colors.

      S Skip this step if Backdrop or Colors is not in your TV menu

    1. Press the HOME button.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
      • Select Device PreferencesScreen saverScreen saver.
      • Select Screen saverScreen saver.
      • Select DaydreamDaydream.
    4. Set to Backdrop or Colours.

    Note: To prevent screen burn-in, when the Daydream or Screen saver is set to Sleep or None, the TV goes to sleep mode after the time period set in When to Daydream or When to start. This function still works even if When to Sleep or Put device to sleep are set to Never. However, it doesn't activate when a program or movie is playing on the TV.

    Set Sleep timer, Idle TV standby, and Auto shut-off to Off

    • Set Sleep timer to Off.
      1. Press the HOME button.
      2. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select TimersSleep timerOff.
        • Select AppsTimersSleep timerOff.
    • Set Idle TV standby to Off.

      Note: Depending on the model, the Auto shut-off function may also need to be turned off.
