There may be one or more LED lights on the lower front of the TV. These LED lights change colors to indicate different conditions or features. Troubleshooting steps are available depending on the color of the light indicator:
Red
If a Red LED is blinking and the TV isn't working properly it means that the TV has detected an issue or problem. Most Red LED blink conditions require repair. The meaning of the blink codes varies between TV models, but the following steps may resolve user serviceable errors related to heat, temporary conditions, or software updates.
Check the following to resolve the issue:
- Turn the TV off and back on. If the TV will not respond to the remote or the Power button, or if that doesn't fix the issue, unplug the TV.
- For a Projection TV or projector , leave it off for 3 minutes.
- Wait for a few minutes for the TV to cool down before you turn it on.
- Make sure to close and secure the cover/door for the lamp.
- For other TVs leave it off for 1 minute, then plug it back in.
- If the TV is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, unplug it and plug it directly into the wall outlet.
- If it worked, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the TV.
- Clean any vents/slots in the TV cabinet and make sure there is room for air to circulate around the cabinet of the TV.
- Some TVs have a media box (tuner) and separate display. If you have one of these TVs, check the cable between the media box and the display if securely connected.
- Check if a software update is available for TVs with internet connection. Check the manual for model-specific information.
Manuals are posted on your model support page.
Note:
- For certain models, if the Red LED indicator light is blinking 8 times then repeats, a special reset procedure is necessary to fix the issue.
- For some internet-capable TVs, turn on Automatic Software Updates and allow the TV to update on its own.
- If these options don't resolve the issue, the problem may be related to an internal component that may require repair.  Go to Product Repair.
Orange Amber
Troubleshooting steps are available depending on the issue:
Timer in ON
A solid Orange/Amber light means that a timer has been set and is active on the TV.
- Sleep Timer - the TV will turn off after a set amount of time
- On/Off Timer - turns the TV on and off at set times of the day
- Timers can be set, changed, or turned on/off in the Settings menu of the TV.
Software Update
- For an Orange/Amber blinking light with LCD and Plasma displays that have a media box (tuner) and separate display, check the cable between the media box and the display if it's securely connected.
- For other TVs that has an active high-speed internet connection, a blinking Orange/Amber light means that it is performing a software update.
Note:
- Don't turn off the TV or remove power during a software update.
- Your remote control won't work while an update is being downloaded/installed.
- Updates may take a few minutes to download and install. Wait for these process to complete. The TV will return to its normal operation after the update finishes.
Green or White
Check the troubleshooting steps depending on the status of the TV.
Blinking while the TV is turning on
- A Green or White light may blink while the TV is powering on. This is normal and will stop once the TV is on.
- If the light continues to blink and the TV doesn't come on or if the TV comes on and then turns off and the process starts over again, unplug the TV for 3 minutes then plug it back in and try again. If the problem continues, the TV may need repair.
- If a Green or White light blinks followed by a Red blinking light, follow the steps above for the Red blinking light.
- If the Green light is steady but the TV doesn't turn on or doesn't power up, follow these steps.
Blinking while the TV is ON
- A solid Green or White light on the front of the TV means that the TV power is on.
- A Green or White light that blinks when you press a button on the remote control simply shows that the TV is receiving the signal from the remote. Not all TVs have this feature.
Lamp Light (For Projection TV and Projectors only)
If the Lamp Light is blinking, it means that the lamp is burnt out and needs replacement.
Note:
- During lamp replacement, make sure not to touch the glass surface.
- If you accidentally touch the surface of the lamp, clean it with alcohol wipes to remove any oil residue. If you don't do this, the life of the lamp can be shortened.
- Make sure to properly close and secure the covers/doors for the lamp.
- Check your TV's manual to determine the correct model of the lamp.
No lights
- TV is turned off or the TV is not plugged in.
- On some sets, this may indicate that the Energy Saving Switch on the side of the TV is turned Off. If your TV has this switch, you must turn it on first.
